Name: Caliph Gender: Male Age: 3
Species: Shark Breed: White
Unique Markings: No markins. Scars are in his appearance. Appearance: Being of pureblooded White Shark decent, Caliph is a very long (40 meters) beast; lined with rippling muscles under a satiny steel hide. However, with such mass comes a certain lack of agility and strategic intellect. Each movement given by a creature of such mass is much slower than that of a swifter, smaller shark. Albeit, each blow delivered by such an enormous creature is strong --- though hitting the target can unfortunately prove to be a problem. Caliph –foolishly- relies far too greatly on his physical strength to bring down enemies. Fortunately, this has yet to fail him…but it’s only a matter of time before he battles an opponent that can use his size and brutish attributes against him.
Despite such an unruly personality, Caliph is devilishly handsome (as far as shark standards go.). His thick skin can seem almost impossible to penetrate and is smooth and silver. As far as scars go, Caliph is covered in them. One in particular runs across his left eye, over the bridge of his snout, and ends at the corner of the right side of his lips. It has severely damaged the vision in his left eye, and has almost blinded him on that side. Another scar includes the jagged one that runs across the right side of his torso, ending at the tip of his tail. Any other mars are much smaller, but can be found crisscrossing across his body.
Personality: This is perhaps one of the most irrational sharks you’ll ever meet. His mind would never be put into the category of sane, because it never stays in one place and it does not work in coherent ways. One incident, occurrence, or even word could toss him out of his current state of mind and throw him into a fit of unspeakable rage or blissful ecstasy. This condition is known as PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder). This means that any noise, sound, or anything of the like can bring an involuntary flashback, causing him to most likely attack in blind fury or fear --- without knowledge of what he’s doing. So when around him, always make sure you pick your words carefully before you speak…and always be prepared to run. Bipolar Disorder also plagues this great fish, causing him to seem like two completely different beings over the course of a few months, days, minutes, or even seconds. These traits can make him seem like a very intimidating beast, and with good reason. However, such insanity contributes to his lack of social skills. Caliph finds it impossible to keep companions. And with his Bipolar Disorder, he is subject to depression and suicidal urges. He often feels lonely, though he will never admit to it.
Blood, pain, suffering; that’s definitely his forte. Caliph simply adores those things and will do almost anything in his power to obtain them. Screams are perhaps the most beautiful music to his ears and mangled bodies fascinating artwork to his eyes. He feeds on emotional pain like a vampire feeds on the crimson liquid of his prey; he needs it to live and thrive in the world. And if he’s the one causing it, that’s only a plus. To him, there is no better feeling than that of bones crushing between your teeth; to have the blood of another hydrate your tongue and quench your thirsts while an agonized scream rings within your eardrums. Caliph’s favorite hobby is to fight and kill; to end the life of another. Nothing brings him more meaning and fulfillment than watching the final breaths fill the air before the death rattle overcomes the body; all leading to that overwhelming sound of deathly silence in the atmosphere. He will murder in the quickest moment, though if given the opportunity he will drag out the death as long as possible. But his life would not be complete without massacre.
Caliph is a very temperamental beast, and his rage is very frightening. He’s aggressive with almost everything he does, and he’s never submissive. He’s not the kind to be passive and understanding to others he knows; he will fight to get things his way…a typical White Shark. However, it is only a matter of time before he picks a fight he cannot win…which will be his downfall.
The sane side of Caliph is deep within him, and is rarely brought out; but when it is, it’s quite rewarding. He’s very protective over those who have managed to stay around his insanity. He won’t allow anybody to harm them, though he fails to protect them from himself.
The last, and certainly the most harmless of Caliph’s disorders is his OCD. He notices anything that is out of place, whether it is a piece of coral that doesn’t fit in right with its surroundings, or if the waves above him aren’t evenly spaced apart. It absolutely drives him crazy…not that he isn’t crazy enough already.
History:(major thanks to Jinx!!)
One month before birth: Little is known about this massive Great white's parents, only that the mating was not for love, and only for pleasure. However, it was not a force-breed, and in that way, Caliph was put in the womb along with five other brothers or sisters. Why we don't know the gender, is because, later on in the growing, when all of them got their little teethies, Caliph brutally murdered them all. Even at that young, tender age, Caliph was a brutal murderer, and subject to pushing around violently in the womb. If there were such thing as killer from birth, Caliph was certainly that and more. He would take nearly all the nutrients from the mysterious mother, and all that were still alive after cannibalism soon died from the greedy great white.
Birth: When Caliph was birthed, it was a violent one. The mother at first felt very small pushes, and with a small smile, she settled down, and only the slightest movement suggested she was even alive. Then the pushing grew worse, and more hard and aggressive- Caliph was slowly coming from the womb, but slowly, due to his size that made some other great white-babies feel damn small. Blood slowly swirled around the big female, and it made the baby inside start into a frenzy, biting at everything he could reach. Even if the newborn was just that: a newborn, he still had strength, and pain wracked the pregnant female. When Caliph was out, she was out as well. Her dead body stayed on the reef floor, and Caliph fed on that when he could, but what he really needed was milk. When he was beginning to feel the pangs of hunger, he saw an orca pass by- intent on the smell of blood. Luckily for him, the pregnant orca felt sorry on him, and kept him under her wing until Accalia, her baby, was birthed.
Early life: Accalia and Caliph... they didn't get along well. And what I mean by that, is that Caliph bullied Accalia hard when Agatha wasn't looking. He would nip hard at her fins, and when she cried out, he would quickly be busy with something else. Now, this wasn't normal "sibling" rivalry, as Caliph would have this dark look in his eyes whenever he would do as such. He would at times push his body weight to the side, making his tail lash out at the smaller female. Agatha soon realized as such, and tried to punish the smaller Great white, but it only made his attempts harder, and more violent. Accalia's life was so miserable, that she tried lashing back out. By that time, Caliph seemed to have two distinct sides to him: One that was fairly happy, and one that was murderously angry. But by happy, we mean sadist happy. For he enjoyed making Accalia suffer, and soon, he wanted Agatha to suffer as well. He would steal off with some of the meat, and eat most of it himself, and it was only when Agatha pushed her weight against the smaller sharks body, that Caliph stopped on risk of death.
Teenager: More anger, but this time, it was more related to how the water moved. He wanted his prey in a specific place and time, and wanted the water to be moving at correct speed in order to ever eat anything. Several times, he passed up meals for that OCD disorder, which combined with bi-polar to put him in a fairly miserable life. Caliph took up torturing his prey before he killed them to take the pain away, and that became his new hobby. Accalia, much as she hated to, tried to comfort him, but it only aroused his anger, and made him lash out more fiercely to the younger orca. Killing grew to be too much for Agatha to handle, and she went off alone for the tiniest bit. When she came back, Accalia was floating dead, and Caliph had a emotionless look on his face, muttering about how she had teased him, or whatnot.
Adult: As an adult, after Agatha chased him out, enraged, Caliph sunk into slight depression, going in and out as his moods dipped to the very high levels, and down to the very low ones. He felt alone in the big world, and travelled many times to see if he could find someone to just care about. Humans came to the ocean, and even if they were just trying to see what he would do normally, he attacked them viciously- tearing at one man's arm, while the one other man dug a massive spear-gun across Caliph's right eye, and to his snout. Only then did the massive shark let go, but it didn't make him stop. Caliph charged again, and this time, the one with the broken arm died in his jaws. When the one with the spear gun realized as much, he dragged the spear-gun down the shark's right side, and left it there as they sped off in the boat.
Caliph was in massive pain, and tried digging the gun out, only to have it drug down to the tip of his tail; making it worse. A few hours later, more flesh-bags came, and took him away. Caliph swore that he would die now, and loneliness came more over him. What the humans did, however, was patch him up, instead of killing him, or making him much worse.
Rehabilitation: Over time, Caliph healed. The torn sanity, however, worsened, and he would try to go for the kill every time a human got close to him. Wanting to kill and torture was the past time for the massive beast. No human would dare get close, for fear of having their arm ripped off or worse. Nothing really happened during his time there- he perfected torture techniques, and whenever life prey was dumped into his "tub" he was the terror. Hope was never there for Caliph, and he nearly abandoned all hope of the open water, until the humans loaded him up, and started off. Now, Caliph wonders where exactly they are taking him, and where he would end up. Dead, or free? The thoughts plague his mind...
