++ NEPTUNE ++
{{Basics}} Age: Four years young Gender: Male Animal: Seal Species: Guadalupe Fur Seal Sexual Orientation: Straight Alliance: Currently? Dissenter I do believe Requested Rank: Assassin
{{Appearance}}
Build: Neptune is large and powerful, a true king among his species with the bulk of a fully grown adult male. Appearance: Neptune boasts the usual to his species- A dark dusky brown shaded coat with a large crescent shaped patch of tan on the nape of his neck. He is large for his species, even larger for a male, about two point four meters long and weighing in at about 192 kg, or 415+ pounds. His thickly blubbered body is masked by the tight fur, and the tight muscles of a seal are prominent on this body. Though large his body, despite it's tightly packed mass, is relatively wiry for a seal, and works just as quickly, if not a midge or two slower, than a tinier breed. He has an elegantly sculpted head and a streamlined body built perfectly for the darting and flowing way a seal swims. His flippers, though one seems to be tattered from battles long passed, are wide and flat as is called for, delicate fins that sculpt the water to meet this brutes needs. A coal black nose to match the wide black eyes of this male twitches lightly from the end of his tapered snout. Long black whiskers, instruments of the trade, sprout gleefully from the sides of that sniffer. The small ear flaps on either side of Neptune's crafted head lay nearly parallel to his skull, down as a puppy dogs ears would be if he did something bad. Black underlines his coal-colored eyes very softly, the color almost too light to be noticeable unless extremely close to the seals face. Being so close is not recommended- for sharp teeth fill that muzzle in perfect even lines, ready to rip and tear into whatever mistakenly provokes him. The hind flippers of this seal are wide and flat, allowing the beast to turn rather quickly and propel himself powerfully. He does have the skill and agility to ram any threatening critters beneath the waves, and doesn't recommend anyone agitating him. With a silky smooth outer appearance tainted only with the dangers nature has granted him, it is almost impossible to tell that this beast of a seal, who named himself after a water god, is true or false in his fierceness. Scars: A deep gash runs from just below his left eye to his left flipper. Made by an incredibly persistent fishhook that tiered him to some rocks. His struggling dragged it around until he was captured and aided.
{{Personality}}
Positive traits: Outgoing, talkative, kind when he allows it to seep through. Negative traits: Arrogant, self-serving, pompous. Likes/Hobbies: Performing in the water, hunting, conversation. Dislikes: Sharp toothed strangers, Flirts, and any who think Seals are useless. Fears: Hooks Overall Personality: Far beyond his years in wisdom, this seal can spout any bit of logic ever caught by his small ears. If it fell from the mouth of a fellow sea critter it is sure to be repeated in some way or other. Though information and statistics are more likely to be uttered by way of this males mouth, he is a very good storyteller- with tales accumulated from far and wide. He seems to love children, taking it upon himself to entertain their young selves while their mothers search for food. With the patience of a school teacher and skillfully enthusiastic actings of a drama geek, it can be said that Neptune is more person than seal. Being so fond of kids, Neptune would love to have his own, but the fluttery young seal has yet to meet his match. This Guadalupe fur seal has sworn off girls until he can meet one who bests him in his best - Speed, power, and agility. He is a creature of physical being, and though very philosophical as well, he just mostly seeks a mate who could keep up. King of the sea, or so he long since dubbed himself, is a title more for a shark or whale than a seal, and yet Neptune claims it proudly. He struts with such a name, pompous head in the sky, arrogance perfuming the air around him. Other creatures part like the red sea when he swims by- or so he likes to think. Some humor him, mostly dolphins, sea lions, and smaller sharks, darting off for his benefit, but the few that don't usually find his sharp teeth and quick body at their necks. Literally. You are not put in your place until it is done so by a seal. Though he places himself at the top of the food chain, Neptune is all too aware that isn't his proper place, though he may act the opposite. Headstrong and stubborn, you will not budge this boys opinion that fur seals of all kinds should be ruling the sea, and though such an outspoken word would end most beheaded an floating somewhere by a critter none too happy about such a musing, he has yet to be 'punished' for his 'conspiratorial words'. Beneath his hard outer shell and general air of idiotic 'better-than-you-ness', Neptune is a sweet guy. Kind and curious, the type to more likely be exploring than starting a fight. Though he isn't opposed to violence, he doesn't exactly enjoy it, especially if bruisings and blows turn to slashes of teeth. Cloudy water is not something he enjoys- especially when it's red. A talkative fellow by nature, Neptune is likely to start up conversations with strangers. Because of him finding his noble self top of the town, he'll gladly swim up to any beast, large or small, and work his words with them. Sharks are not creatures he fears, though he may have reason to. Though Neptune seems a turning and twisting devil of a seal with conflicting emotions and ways, he is philosophical in speech and manner, an artist who paints the world in color with his large vocabulary, instead of keeping it monochromatic.
{{History}} Family: Venus- Mum- Whereabouts unknown Pluto- Da- Whereabouts unknown Sol- Sis- Whereabouts unknown History: "I was not a Lilly white puffball, as my harp seal cousins claim as their childhood appearance. Nor was I the brisk tan-white of the elephant seal child. I was also not lucky enough to claim the beautifully ringed black and silver coat of a ribbon seal. No, no, I was born as I am now, though diminished in size. Blackish brown, tan in the bits, with my flat flippers and sculpted face. Perfectly symmetrical cranium, perfectly aligned body. I was, in essence, such perfection. A quick child, I, who never found a match in speed or power. Perhaps after all those months of searching for a physical match, I allowed myself to grow... but it might have been later on I became the critter of such noble bulk I am now. I say noble, for I am. Perfect and majestic, the god of the seas, Neptune.
Anyhow. Born to a monster of a father and a pixie of a mum, it was clear from birth who took after who. My sister was tiny, a flipper-full in the least. I, however, was easily a third of my mothers length. Huge and tiny. Now being a larger creature, I needed more milk, but I sacrificed most of the food for my sweet-guzzling little sister- She is, after all, the baby. Babies need more food. In this I became fragile and thin, and in this my parents attention turned to me. The first child was sick, whatever would they do! Well what they did was escort my sis elsewhere- I'm not sure what became of her, I suspect she was carted off to nurse from orcas- Lord knows they have enough milk for her greedy gut- but I haven't seen her since. In the little ones disappearance, I was pampered. Fed, kept comfy, until I was back to a healthy state. Or... healthy for the time.
A year saw me wandering from my parents. Still technically a child, I wasn't supposed to be out as long as I was at such a delicate point. But headstrong and rebellious, I ventured farther and farther until the inevitable happened. I was separated. A strong current ripped through my parents little cove and the rest of the stretch of beach we occupied. I was caught up in this, not watching where my flippers lead me, and my small body was whisked completely to the opposite island end. Of course, being a child and incredibly afraid at being away from my parents for too long, I cried, whined, screamed, and finally flopped myself onto the beach. I rested for a while, salty tears mixing into salty water, indistinguishable like my brown shape on a brown beach. It wasn't long before my cries attracted company. Another ale seal, though ten or so years my senior, worked his considerable bulk onto the sand right beside me. Judging in a glance I was too young to be any threat, the old timer plopped down and began to speak. At first the words ran together, blurred by my frightened sobs. But after I quit sniffling, I listened closely. He was singing a song, and it went something like this.
"Seal pup, stuck in a rut, ventured out of his cove Stuck in a current, running circles, onward he strove To see the whiskered face of da, the smooth light face of mum To get back to that cove, said a stranger, the seal pup must come So the brisk little lad, aching for dad, set his flippers 'a fast And they whirred and they stirred, past old ship with their masts And on and on and on and on the pup and elder swum So kidling could see whiskered dad and sweet and soft-faced mum."
It was such a simple tune and fit my situation so well, I had wondered at the time how he had known a perfect song. Loki told me later he had made it up- but that I hadn't known, and had sniffled thanks before following the blubbery old man out and around the island. It was easy to find my parents- easy for him at least. I was wailed over and punished, made to stay practically chained to the beach for a number of weeks, but it wore off, and the memory faded.
Three years later and I was swimming the same cove, lacking mum and dad, though not caring. I had left them near the end of my second year, and though I had been with them longer than most pups, it did me no wrong. Now, cruising along, a bright flash of color caught my eye. A flashy, jiggly, fuzzy thing beneath the waves. Being so close to the shore, I had risen from the depths and eyed the land for any sign of man- seeing as none was there I sank again and prodded the thing with a flipper. I can't describe the pain that followed, after the large hook embedded in that lure caught itself in my skin. Frantic to flee the fearfully sharp object that was causing me such pain, I had whirled around and attempted to swim off, but each stroke of my powerful tail had the hook dragging deeper. I was in a frenzy from the pain then, and spinning about had caused old lines to tangle themselves around the fin. My cries of pain apparently alerted a human unspotted by my bright eyes. Someone was called, and it is obvious what happened next.
Capture. Capture, and healed, as they fixed up my now tattered and somewhat mangled appendage. What will become of me now, in this humans prison? This dome of glass, that I can't break free of? What happens next in this story?"
"It turns out a miracle happened next. A group of dark ones- Dissenters, they told me they were called, found me a while after my release. Caught in a riptide, I was helpless. One of their members, a huge male whale by the same name of what I was caught within, riptide, dove through the streaming current and pushed me out the other side. He wiggled his bulk out after a few moments, and I chuckled to think such a creature could move so quick. After my saving the entire little group seemed to drift away, but being loyal as I am, I followed after. Shouting claims of temporary allegiance, they took me back to their base camp and admitted me into their ranks. Not because I was truly dark, like they, but because I had talent, and was bound by the seals code. I would follow riptide until i could save his life in return or until he died. Either way, it was a bargain that was very difficult to get out of.... not that I want out. Yet. I rose in ranks soon after my initiation, and now claim the title of an assassin. I track down those the beast wants, and am in turn rewarded with the family-like closeness of our group, plenty of food, and plenty of room to watch after my savior whale. Perhaps I'll leave after his death.... we'll just have to wait it out and see."
